Tell Me a Story

Only a few more days, dear readers!

Unfortunately, the publisher likes to work in terms of ‘approximately’ so I’m still not entirely sure what exact day Somewhere Over the Sun will be available for purchase. But it’s very, very soon.

Until that very exciting unknown day comes, I wanted to remind you all one last time that I’m giving away two autographed copies of my novel. To have your name entered, you simply have to officially tell me your name through here or via e-mail at adi.alsaid@gmail.com.

If you’d like to have your name entered three times into the drawing for a higher chance to win, just tell me a story. Any story at all. It can be a sentence long fiction via my ask box, 140 characters of made up plot in a tweet, an email with a few paragraphs about the time your glasses broke in the fourth grade and you were terrified about telling your parents so you threw the glasses away and pretended your eyesight was perfect, a handwritten letter detailing how you came to love chewing ice.

Anything at all, dear reader. Fiction or non-fiction, short or long, spoken, written or in the form of pictures, find a way to get your story to me, and I’ll enter your name into the drawing which will be held on the night of my book’s release, whatever the night ends up being. I’ll post a video where I randomly draw two names from a hat or a hat-like container, and the winners will each receive an autographed copy of Somewhere Over the Sun.

By the way, that shirt looks great on you. Here’s the quotation of the day:

“Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It’s round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you’ve got about a hundred years here. There’s only one rule I know of, babies- God damnit, you’ve got to be kind.” God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, Kurt Vonnegut

Somewhere Over the Sun Giveaway!

As of late, I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback and comments from readers regarding my posts on this site, as well as my writing itself. I even received my first lovely piece of electronic fan mail from a reader in Mexico. To show my appreciation for all your support and heart-warming messages, I’m going to hold a little giveaway.

Two lucky readers will receive a free, autographed copy of Somewhere Over the Sun. I’ll give you a moment to dance excitedly in your seat.

Now that you’ve had some time to contain your enthusiasm, I’ll give you the details. To be entered into the giveaway, tell me a story.

Fiction or non-fiction, short or long, spoken, written or in the form of pictures, find a way to get your story to me, and I’ll enter your name into a drawing which will be held on the night of my book’s release. I’ll post a video where I randomly draw two names from a hat or a hat-like container, and the winners will each receive an autographed copy of Somewhere Over the Sun.

I’ll also post a few of my favorite stories on the site, granted I have your permission to do so. I’ll keep this as an open giveaway up until the release of the book, so you have plenty of time to tell your friends to contact me with their story.

Chairs

Dear Readers,

That is me, sitting in/on the Big Sur River. It was a perfectly placed chair which has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of this post. I just wanted to share it to remind you that, though you may not be constantly reminded of the fact that some chairs are perfectly placed, some chairs are exactly where they need to be. And, yes, maybe I wanted to flaunt my tattoo. It, too, is perfectly placed, in my opinion.

I’ve received only two contest submissions, but I’m hopeful that many more will come. I’ve threatened plenty of people, and an onslaught of stories is sure to come my way.

A friend pointed out that e-mailing my manuscript to the winner is a bit risky, since there would be nothing keeping a person of low or even medium integrity from forwarding the manuscript to whomever he/she pleases. I have yet to come up with a solution, but one is forthcoming. If you have any suggestions, please do tell.

Remember, you can email your stories to adi.alsaid@gmail.com, or submit them on this blog.
