yacht

Last year I was fortunate enough to be whisked away for my birthday to the Bahamas, a place that had been on my bucket list for a very long time. We are not rich by any means, but my husband really pulled out all of the stops for this one and we even flew first class on the return leg of our journey.

The highlight of my trip to the Bahamas, if I only had to pick one, was the day that we spent on a yacht, sailing around this beautiful part of the world. If you are heading to the islands, you will find a lot of Bahamas yacht charter rental options by the day, and here is what to expect when you decide to spend a day at sea.

Sports

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect on my day out on the yacht, perhaps just the quiet life, some sunbathing, a drink or two, nice conversation. The reality however was very different and whilst I did to a bit of the aforementioned activities, the order of the day was sports, and I was more than up for it. What surprised me the most was the amount of water sports which were available to us, wake boarding, kayaking, snorkeling and paddle boarding to name just a few. I loved that it felt as though we had the water to ourselves, making any falls that I may have had somewhat less embarrassing. If you like water sports, there are no better ways of doing them than from the comfort of your own yacht.

Amazing Islands

The main reason why we chose the yacht trip was to explore some of the surrounding islands of the Bahamas and despite my fears that we wouldn’t have enough time, the way in which the trip panned out meant that we saw many of them. What’s interesting is that each island is different from the last from the swimming pigs at Staniel Clay to the pink sand beaches of Harbour Island. If you want to explore the Bahamas, this is the best way to do it.

All Out Luxury

The level of luxury on board the yacht was perfect and I felt incredibly comfortable and pampered on the boat. I love the attention to detail in terms of the luxury on offer from the deck, the food choices and even the lounge areas below deck. I would have loved to stay on the yacht for longer but just sampling it for one day was pretty special.

Pure Tranquility

My favorite thing of all on board the yacht was the absolute tranquility which you get as you float between the islands with the only sounds being the birds in the sky and the waves lapping against the boat. Some people pay good money for relaxing music which features these sounds, and once you experience it for yourself, it is easy to understand why.

If you are going to the Bahamas, make sure that you make a day to spend on a yacht.
